Oktopus Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Oktopus handles information when you use the iOS app and AUv3 instrument.

Summary

Oktopus is a music creation app. The app is designed to process audio, MIDI, presets, and samples locally on your device. We do not sell your data, use advertising tracking, or upload your microphone recordings, presets, samples, or performances to our servers.

Information We Do Not Collect

Oktopus does not collect personal information from the app for analytics, advertising, or profiling. We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, audio files, presets, MIDI performances, or device identifiers through the app.

Microphone Use

Oktopus may request microphone access so you can record audio, use audio input as part of the instrument, or create samples inside the app.

Microphone audio is processed locally on your device. We do not receive, store, upload, sell, or share your microphone audio.

Recorded audio remains on your device unless you choose to export it, save it into a preset or sample workflow, copy it through Files, or share it with another person or service using iOS sharing features.

Presets, Samples, and User Exports

Oktopus can create, import, save, and export presets and samples. Presets may include settings and may reference or include recorded samples depending on how you use the app.

We do not automatically share presets, samples, recordings, or exported files with anyone. If you choose to export a preset, export audio, share a file, or send your work to another person or service, you control that sharing. The recipient or service you choose may handle that shared content according to its own privacy policy.

Imported Files

If you import audio files or presets into Oktopus, those files are used locally by the app for music creation. Imported files are not uploaded to us.

MIDI and Bluetooth

Oktopus may use MIDI and Bluetooth MIDI features so you can connect controllers and play the instrument. These features are used for local music performance and control. We do not collect or upload MIDI performances or Bluetooth device information.

Third-Party Services

Oktopus does not use third-party advertising or analytics services in the app. If you use iOS sharing, Files, cloud storage, messaging, email, or another app to export or share your content, that action is controlled by you and may involve third-party services outside Oktopus.

Data Retention

Audio recordings, imported samples, presets, settings, and exported files are stored locally on your device when you create or save them. You can delete files using the app’s controls where available, through the iOS Files app where exposed, or by deleting the app from your device.

Children’s Privacy

Oktopus is a music creation tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when app behavior changes or when legal, platform, or App Store requirements change. The “Last updated” date will be revised when this policy is updated.
